A full length mirror, how to choose the best size?

When do you choose for a full length mirror?

A full-length mirror with a nice frame is indispensable in your interior. It is the most functional mirror in your home.
You often see large pass mirrors in the bedroom, in the hallway or for example in a walk-in closet. But the ideal place also depends on the type of house.
A mirror can also look good in the living room, on the hallway or even in the kitchen.

As a mirror stylist I like to think 'out of the box' and I look where the mirror fits best in the type of house and the wishes and the character of the residents. The (mirror) style of the frame and the colour can play an important role. A modern large mirror with a wide frame in a beautiful old mansion, for example.

The colours of the mirror frame can be matched to the rest of the house. There is a wide choice of colours including gold, old gold, silver, bright silver, matt black, white and black or white high gloss lacquered.
At barokspiegel.nl there are also mirror frames in the combination colours black with gold, white with silver and taupe with silver.
Or do you prefer a wooden mirror with a walnut frame?

With the above mirror colours you can also choose between a wide frame or a narrow frame, from baroque to modern.

Where do you want a fitting mirror?

The most important questions you can ask yourself are: Where does the mirror look best and where do I find it? For example, I recently advised for a large mirror in a flat. There was only one bedroom here, where the living room, kitchen and bedroom flow into each other from left to right. In the middle of the room (between the living room and the kitchen) is a wall with the door to the corridor opposite. This turned out to be the perfect place for the large mirror.
We chose a large framed mirror that fits exactly against this wall to create more light and space in the room. And the mirror comes out at the right moments. Before she goes anywhere, she can check her outfit and make-up, which is exactly what the resident wants.

How big should a mirror be, so that you can see yourself completely?

The size of the mirror depends on your own height and width, but also on whether you hang it up or use it as a floor mirror.

The mirror can be 20 cm shorter than your own height if you hang it 20 cm above the floor.
If you put the mirror on the floor, it should be as long as your own height.

How wide should a full-length mirror be?

Choose the width of the mirror glass according to your own width, but at least 30-40 cm.
(The average shoulder width of an 18 year old woman is 35 cm and that of a man 39 cm).
In the above cases you can always see yourself fully in the mirror.

How to hang a heavy mirror with a wooden frame?

This is an important consideration! Of course, framed mirrors are large and can be very heavy. We advise to hang heavy mirrors of 15 kilo or more on two hangers. At Barokspiegel.nl we mount the hangers on the frame of the mirror so that the hangers can carry the correct weight of the mirror.

Do you want to put the mirror on the ground and not hang it? Then we recommend you to anchor it to the wall. For this you can use the mounting brackets.

With mirror greetings,
